A Piece of {cup}Cake!

Last week in our first grade classroom we had 2 birthdays only 2 days apart.  Parties = CUPCAKES! When looking at the empty cupcake container, I realized it would probably make the base for a cool game. What game?? ... I had NO IDEA, but I gave myself 2 weeks to figure it out before throwing recycling them.

See ... It has the potential for SOME kind of game!
Aha, by George, I got the idea yesterday.  An interactive game for spelling words.
Here is how it goes:

I typed, printed and cut circles with the kiddos spelling words and grabbed a bag of puff balls.
Each player will have a puff ball {or button ...or whatever}
They will take turns throwing their puff ball into the tray, landing on a spelling word.
If they can read the word they can keep it and it is the next player's turn.
If that player can read it {you know the drill...}, if not, it stays in the tray.
If the puff ball lands in an empty part, the player loses a turn. Wah! Wah!

Check it out ... When they are done, the container makes for EASY BREEZY storage!
Think of the options that this one little container has ... math, letters, vocabulary, sight words...
the list goes on and on!

So start saving those cupcake containers and HAPPY CREATING!!
P.S. The kids were crazy excited over this center. :)
